Rev. Josh Privitt
The Rev. Josh Privitt begins his ministry with Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ in August, 2026. While Pastor Josh was born and raised in Missouri, his wife, Nicole Warrington, is a native Marylander!
Rev. Josh Privitt can best be summarized by three things: he’s a nerd for a good, thoughtful story, he is passionate about connection with God, and he loves connecting with people (especially through fun and games). Because of these three loves, you will often find him in a coffee shop with a book or comic book in hand, chatting with others about their life or the stories they love.
The wisdom of Liberation Theologians and those writing about the history of people pushed to the margins of society is where Josh often is learning and reading. He is continually reminded of just how deeply God wants to make this world more just and equitable for all. In order to keep this “good fight” going, he takes deep breaths, re-engaging with his senses, and listens for the wisdom of the Spirit. Either that, or he’ll be blasting some feel good music to pump himself up and, if the mood is right, dancing in his chair.
Josh is passionate about cultivating deep connections between the Church and the wider community outside the church walls. He believes that the only way for the Church to truly follow God’s call is through deep and relational partnership. He was born and raised in Columbia, MO (Go Tigers!) where he fell in LOVE with the UCC tradition of radical welcome and deep spirituality. Church was a second home for him, and part of his call to ministry is the desire to make that welcome and community happen for all generations. Josh attended Truman State University graduating with a degree in Public Communication and a minor in Spanish. In 2014, he graduated from Eden Theological Seminary with a M.Div. He has previously served as Associate Pastor at St. Peter’s UCC in Ferguson, Missouri, Student Pastor at Peace UCC in Webster Groves, Missouri, and Student Pastor at Compton Heights Christian Church in St. Louis, Missouri.
His favorite superhero is Spider-man (and yes Spider-man would win in a fight against anyone), and he is a St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs fan (though the Ravens are a close second). He loves to crochet, play board, card, and video games, is a runner, and LOVES his family. Josh is always down for lunch or coffee with someone and loves those important life questions, so don’t hesitate to reach out! Most of all, Josh is continually humbled to serve God through the Church and is excited and hopeful to see how God continues to lead in Frederick and beyond.
