During the Houses of Worship Tour you would typically visit our Main Sanctuary and church building along with Historic Trinity Chapel. On the evening of the Historic Houses of Worship Tour, we have festive music on the 28 rank Fritzsche organ, played by Alison Shafer, our church organist, and guest organists. In addition, holiday music can be heard on the marimba, performed by Jenna Duranko.

ERUCC Frederick
The main church building was erected in 1848-1850 in the Greek Revival architectural style. Trinity Chapel is the center for our Christian Education program. The small Colonial cruciform chapel is also used for the 8:30 am Sunday Worship Service. Trinity Chapel’s steeple was built in 1807 and is Frederick’s oldest of the clustered spires . The original stone tower was erected in 1763 and houses our ten-bell Trinity Chimes
Trinity Chapel is the center for our Christian Education program. The small Colonial cruciform chapel is also used for the 8:30 am Sunday Worship Service. You are invited to visit the circa 1763 tower which houses our ten-bell Trinity Chimes. Several of the church’s chimers are demonstrating the art of ringing. If you are downtown, you will hear our church bells chime Saturday evenings at 5 p.m. and Sunday mornings.
During the Christmas season, ERUCC will usually have a Christmas Putz on display. A putz is a nativity scene, or creche, which tells the Christmas story with groups of figurines on a miniature landscape. It builds on the tradition of using lifelike figures to dramatize the Incarnation, a practice traced to a tableau by St. Francis of Assisi in Italy in 1223. Fred Wenner, Pastor Emeritus of ERUCC, introduced the putz to Frederick in 1986. The ERUCC putz includes live moss, plants, rocks, wood stumps, and miniature buildings. There are a variety of old dime store figures and a few sheep with real wool that were used at least 60 years ago. Other figures include hand-carved animals from Oberammergau in Bavaria and an olive wood camel from the Holy Land. Rocks have been brought back from various members and friends of the church from their travels. Among these treasures is marble from Greece, parts of the Berlin Wall, and stones from the real “Little Town of Bethlehem.” The narration is done by ERUCC Pastor Emeritus, Fred Wenner. This video uses the narration from 1998, which includes music from Handel’s Messiah.
Throughout Advent and the Christmas season, ERUCC is decorated with greenery and lights and the buildings are filled with joy and music. This year, ERUCC members and friends are fortunate to have these memories of worship and time together through video recordings and photographs taken throughout years past. This video is a compilation of photos and videos of Christmas Eve services and past Houses of Worship Tour events, accompanied by recordings of the ERUCC Senior Choir.
This denomination was formed in 1957 with the merger of the Evangelical and Reformed Church (our German ancestors) and the Congregational Christian Churches (the New England “pilgrims”).

ERUCC History Book Available
To commemorate the 275th Anniversary of ERUCC, the history book Unto Us has been updated to reflect our church history through 2020. The 8×11 hard backed history book, with color photo sections is available through the church office or on Sunday mornings.
