“Being a member of the ERUCC Senior Choir under the direction par excellence of Alison Shafer has and continues to be one of the highlights of over 50 years for me in choirs of all kinds. The selection of music is superb, always coordinating with the message of the day. Alison brings the best out of us with her musical gifts, humor and an endearing personality. The choir members truly enjoy each other and celebrate joys as well as provide support in times of trial. For me, it’s one of the best parts of ERUCC!!”

Whatever your age or style of music, there is a choir for you at ERUCC. On Sunday mornings, you may hear traditional or contemporary music from the adult choir, or young voices raised in song from the children’s or young people’s choirs. In addition to vocal music, there is a lively tradition of handbell choirs of all ages and experiences. Connect with ERUCC and its members by joining one of our choirs.
“Being a member of Senior Choir and Spirit brings me great joy. I feel the spirit of our Lord through the strains of our organ music and the choral liturgy. In addition to the ERUCC community, the music liturgy is what has always kept me coming back.”

The Senior Choir is a traditional choir that sings most Sundays at the 10:30 a.m. service. Their 4-part anthems range from classical style, to spiritual, to more contemporary pieces. The Senior Choir plays a key role in leading hymns and sung responses during the worship services. The choir rehearses the first and third Thursday of each month in the Parish House, and on Sundays following the 10:30 worship service in the Sanctuary. If interested, please contact Organist/Director Alison Shafer at the Church Office, 301-662-2762.
“It has been such a rewarding experience for me to lead the Children’s Choir and Young Spirit at ERUCC. Both choirs offer children and youth an opportunity for faith and leadership development by participating in worship and sharing their gifts of music. Seeing our children and youth grow by taking an active role in the church community while sharing their time, talents and joyful spirit is priceless! “
